At McNeil Engineering, we’re passionate about creating spaces that inspire and transform. With every project, we aim to build more sustainable, functional, and dynamic urban environments, always keeping community and innovation at the heart of what we do. In our latest newsletter, we’ve highlighted some incredible projects and initiatives that illustrate the expertise our team brings to every endeavor. Let me share a few updates and exciting milestones from our work.
Paving the Future: A New Streetscape for Provo Downtown
One of the standout projects we’ve undertaken recently is the Provo Downtown Streetscape Revitalization. As part of the city’s plans for creating a more pedestrian-friendly downtown, we’ve been heavily involved in redesigning sidewalks, integrating sustainable landscaping elements, and reimagining the area’s overall functionality. By incorporating drought-resistant native plants, energy-efficient lighting, and strategically placed green spaces, we’re proud to have created a space that balances aesthetic appeal with environmental sustainability. Watching Provo’s downtown transform into a hub for both business and leisure has been incredibly rewarding.
Engineering Elegance in Lehi’s Tech Hub
We’re thrilled to have contributed to the development of one of Lehi’s newest office parks, a cutting-edge tech hub designed to cater to Utah’s booming tech industry. Known for its sleek architecture and innovative green building elements, this project has pushed the boundaries of modern workplace design. Our team at McNeil Engineering played a vital role in the structural engineering and landscape design of this site, blending high-performance infrastructure with artistic outdoor spaces served by walking paths and seating areas. The result isn’t just a place to work—it’s a vibrant community where technology and nature converge.
Sustainability Meets Functionality in the Riverton City Center Design
Another exciting project we’ve been working on is the Riverton City Center. This large-scale, multi-use campus combines public amenities, office spaces, and recreational areas in a single cohesive design. What makes this project truly special is its orientation around water efficiency. Here, we’ve installed an advanced stormwater management system that allows for smart irrigation of the site’s expansive green areas. The design’s focus on sustainability supports Riverton’s commitment to long-term growth while providing a welcoming environment for residents and visitors.
Bridging Nature and Technology: The Ogden Natural Area Redevelopment
Across the Wasatch Front region, we’ve been laying the groundwork for a host of impactful transformations. In Ogden, we recently completed work on a natural area redevelopment project designed to preserve the surrounding environment while introducing modern amenities. From regrading trails for accessibility to designing viewing platforms overlooking the wetlands, this project demonstrates how engineering and landscape architecture can shape spaces that encourage outdoor exploration while respecting local ecosystems.
Leading Thought in Landscape and Urban Design
Beyond hands-on project work, we’re committed to advancing thought leadership in landscape architecture and urban planning. One recent article penned by our team explored the role of AI and generative design in creating efficient building layouts, while another examined how advances in permeable paver technology are influencing stormwater management strategies. As industry leaders, we know that sharing insights is just as important as applying them, and this commitment to education drives our involvement at conferences, workshops, and local universities.
Recognizing the Team Behind the Vision
Each of these projects is a labor of love, made possible by the talent, creativity, and dedication of our McNeil Engineering team. Within the last quarter, we’re proud to celebrate several major milestones: Emily Davis, one of our lead engineers, earned her LEED certification, while Mark Roberts, a senior designer, completed his tenth award-winning project for the firm. Their efforts—and the efforts of everyone on our team—are what allow us to consistently deliver results that reshape cities and communities for the better.
Giving Back to the Communities We Serve
We’ve also been active in community outreach initiatives. Recently, we organized a hands-on workshop for high school students curious about careers in engineering and landscape design. Seeing young minds engage with the principles of sustainability and urban planning is a reminder of why we do what we do—to create a legacy for future generations. We’ve also continued our work with local nonprofits, designing micro-green spaces in underserved areas to bring much-needed greenery and shade to urban neighborhoods.
Looking Ahead
From redesigning bustling streetscapes to infusing tech hubs with artistic design, the projects we’ve shared in this newsletter represent just a fraction of what drives us at McNeil Engineering. We’re grateful for the collaborative partnerships that make these endeavors possible and for the trust of our clients to bring their visions to life. As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue shaping spaces that leave a positive, lasting impact on our communities.
Thank you for following along with our journey. Stay tuned for more updates from McNeil Engineering—where innovation meets design.
