If you don’t know much about McNeil Engineering, then you might be under the impression that we only operate in Utah. Believe it or not, we’ve actually done a lot of owkr outside of our great state! One of our most recent projects: Rush Street Restaurant in Los Angeles. Here’s a brief overview of what the project entailed:
The Rush Street Restaurant project was a bit more complicated than some of our other work. The goal was to transform a 75-year-old sign and welding shop into a classy, high-end restaurant. While that doesn’t sound too difficult on paper, the fact that there were no historic documents related to the building’s structure made our work that much more important.
The McNeil Engineering team accomplished a number of things on the job site. We performed an investigative survey, did a seismic structural analysis and retrofitted the structure in order to make the building compliant with California Building Code and LA City Building Code requirements.
The structural aspect of this project was quite challenging because the project’s budget was limited. Our team also added a new mezzanine to the building in order to meet occupancy requirements. Fun fact? This project is located in the highest seismic design category in the United States which means it’s very earthquake prone. All of our work centered around this very important fact. Bring it on Mother Nature!
